Rights of Employees
Hackensack, New Jersey Discrimination Attorneys
Employment discrimination occurs when an employer treats someone worse because of their membership in a legally protected category, such as due to their age, gender or race. It is unlawful for an employer to take an adverse employment action against an employee, such as to fire, harass, demote or not hire them for a discriminatory reason.
The Hackensack discrimination lawyers at Rabner Baumgart Ben-Asher & Nirenberg, P.C. have dedicated themselves to providing exceptional legal service to help employees with their legal disputes against their employers. We are adept at analyzing your situation carefully and listening to your concerns so we can help you decide the best way to enforce your legal rights.
Representing New Jersey Employees with Discrimination ClaimsOur employment lawyers represent individuals who live and work in Hackensack, and throughout New Jersey and downstate New York who have experienced issues related to their employment, including those who have been victims of unlawful discrimination at work. We represent all levels of employees, including Chief Executive Officers, Presidents, middle level managers, support staff and laborers.
The New Jersey Law Against Discrimination ("LAD") is a broad law that prohibits discrimination based on age, gender, pregnancy, race, color, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, religion, ancestry, marital status and military status. That means it makes it unlawful for companies to treat employees worse because of their membership in one of those legally protected categories.
Retaliation Also Violates the LawThe LAD also prohibits employers from retaliating against an employee because they complained about unlawful discrimination in the workplace. For instance, it would be illegal for your company to fire you because you complained to your supervisor or the human resources department about disability discrimination or sexual harassment.
